The sunless sky, the gray land, and the brown water,
was there something out there?
Could there have been something more?
But I do not know, for we are simpleminded,
so stuck in our minds that we could not see
the beauty that surrounded us,
the trees so green, the sky so bright, the water so blue...
but it’s gone now because of me and you.

I state this with sadness but we all know it’s true,
is this what is going to become of me and you?
Eventually we fade into oblivion
nothing more than a grain of sand,
a speck of dirt,
a wisp of air.
So please take this poem and share.
Tell the world that the color is draining away
slowly
day
by
day.
