Light in the Darkness”

Staring, gazing up at the night sky
Watching, breathless, as the stars go by
Pondering about life before the war
Wondering if they’ll ever want much more

Drowning, drowning in a sea of tears
With no one beside me to be near
Wondering if I’ll ever fall
Or if my friends will ever call

Loneliness creeping up on me
Sneaking past, like I’ll never see
What it was like before I knew
What consequences come
With the things you do

Blood seeping out of my skin
Covering up the same old sins
What life was like
Before anything started
What it’s like
To be broken-hearted

But when I look up
To see the light
He shines on me
With all His power and might

The darkness runs away
And I know it’s all okay
When He’s right there next to me
And I fall and bend on one knee

Now I know
What life was like
Before anything started
What it’s like
To be light-hearted
