I look down at my hand
Gripping the rope tightly
Bleeding
Red
Blistering
And not wanting to let go.

I touch the rope
And see the memories
The memories that have dragged me down
For as long as I can remember.

Voices inside my head say
Let go
Let go
Let go
Because holding on
Sometimes causes more pain
Than letting go.

So I let go
And I don’t look back.
