sparkling it dapples the shore.
A moon hangs in the midnight sky,
an owl begins to soar.

A deer snuffles by some roots,
a mouse scurries away.
The trees all seem to be sleeping,
the leaves dead like decay.

A silent wind whispers through the trees,
the leaves are scattered about.
The crickets play their songs tonight,
the fireflies’ lights wink out.

The morning sun is far away,
the darkness is a chilling bite.
Murkiness hangs everywhere,
this is the forest at night.
